Drilling entry boards

The choice of the correct drilling entry board plays a crucial role with the quality of the drilling process of printed circuit boards. The drilling entry board has substantial impact on the drilling accuracy, the drill guidance, the drill drift, and in particular, on the life span of the tools.

Already small surface defects e.g. scratches, inclusions, pits and dents, additionally, finger marks, oily or greasy spots may lead to drill breakage and/or clearly worsened drilling results.

ASMETEC recommends in principle within the drilling area a carrying of light working gloves!

We supply drilling entry boards of different materials, from special full-aluminium sheets,
aluminium sandwich materials and isolating drilling entry boards of melamine and phenolic laminates.

METOTOP ALU 3003

Drilling entry boards made of full aluminium are the most inexpensive and for most applications it is the best choice.
It applies to note however that aluminium must be chemically degreased and made of a special alloy particularly
optimized for the drilling process.

METOTOP ALU 3003 has a firmly defined surface roughness for best possible drill centring,
the special milling parameters lends METOTOP ALU 3003 an outstanding material strength and chipping property.

METOTOP ALU 3003 is available in thicknesses from 0,18 to 0.30 mm in different master sheet sizes and panels cut to size and tooled

METODRILL FD-Series è to top

METODRILL FD is particularly suitable an electrically isolating drilling and routing entry board
for micro hole drillings and for blind hole drilling.
METODRILL FD is available as melamine-epoxy sandwich material, in thicknesses 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.8 mm

METODRILL PH-Series è to top

Different from commercial phenol papers METODRILL PH exclusively made for ASMETEC is manufactured
using more modified and particularly warm-stable phenolic resins as bonding agents.

METODRILL PH-Series is recommended for drilling and routing PTFE, Aramid and further problematic laminates.

METOTOP MPM-Series è to top

The MPM-Series is based on the PH-Series but coated both sides with a heat resistant melamine paper
with a fine roughness structure for excellent drill bit centering, esp. recommended for mirco hole drilling

METOTOP APA-Series è to top

This aluminium- paper clad is optimally suitable for micro hole drilling.
The outside aluminium layer in thickness of 50 µm lends an outstanding inherent rigidity without impairing the flexible
characteristics of the substrate to the laminate .
Aluminium layer provides for fast and exact drill centring, the core material absorbs the bend usual with the impact
of the drill and clearly reduces the drill drift and danger of drill breakage.

METOTOP LE-812 è to top

This new lubricating entryboard is the best choice for drilling micro holes from 0,1 mm to 0,3 mm
but also works perfectly for drilling holes up to 0,9 mm. It is based on a 120 µm special aluminium foil
coated with a water soluble lubricant in order to significantly reduce drilling heat below the Tg of FR4.
Thus giving a much smoother hole wall, less micro cracks, prolonged drill bit life esp. if used in combination

Drill Check Foil 250 G / R è to top

This PE based drill check foil is available in green or red translucent colour. It is used to check drilling accuracy.
Simply put it on top of an entry board for a new batch of pcb drilling.

The translucent colour allows easiest comparing of drilled hole positions when laid on your drilled pcb.
